2023 Houston Police Week Events

The Houston Police Department (HPD) will observe its Annual Police Week beginning Monday, May 1 though Friday May 5, 2023. This annual event allows the department to celebrate the contributions police officers make to the community and pay respect to those officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Police Week Awards Ceremony Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. At the Hilcorp Headquarters located at 1111 Travis Street, Houston, Texas 77002, this luncheon is by invitation only. This event will honor employees for their hard work and dedication to the mission of the department.

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, clergy leaders will hold a Day of Prayer at 10 a.m. at the Edward A. Thomas Building (HPD Headquarters), located at 1200 Travis, in Houston. This event will be led by Houston area clergy members to strengthen the partnership that exists between the community and HPD. All employees are invited to attend this event.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, the Annual Police Week Memorial Service will be held at the Houston Police Officer Memorial located at 2400 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas. This is a solemn ceremony dedicated to the memory of the Houston Police Officers who have been killed in the line of duty. This event will begin promptly at 7p.m. with a walking processional from 2100 Memorial Drive to the Houston Police Officers Memorial. This will be followed by a candlelight vigil, a roll call of the officers, and a wreath laying ceremony on the Memorial. If it rains the morning of the ceremony, the ceremony will be held at First Baptist Church located at 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024 in the gymnasium. Following this service, the Houston Police Officer’s Union (HPOU) will hold a reception for the survivors of the Houston Police Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
