I am excited to announce this year’s 2023 Essay topic: “How does social media affect your life, the safety of our community, and your view of Law Enforcement”. Additionally, we are making improvements to this year’s scholarship conditions. These changes have been made to provide a wider range of graduating students an opportunity. Just keep reading!
Who qualifies? All dependents of our members graduating high school in the Spring 2023 and planning to attend an institution of higher learning (university, college, technical or business school) and those students opting to serve our country by enlisting in the military for the first time.
The 2023 HPOU Scholarship will be available online, Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
All documents (2023 HPOU Scholarship Instructions, 2023 HPOU Scholarship Application, 2023 HPOU Scholarship Commitment Letter, typed 4 pages Essay (double spaced, 12 font Times New Roman, 1” top and bottom, 1” right and left margins) and Official High School Transcript MUST be completed in its entirety and received by Friday, February 24, 2023, 3 pm. ABSOLUTELY NO EXECPTIONS.
On March 3, 2023, the scholarship essays will be outsourced to an independent essay grader that will read and apply the scholarship award amount.
Scholarship winners will be announced on or about March 20, 2022.
The scholarship breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, 9:00 am at the Houston Police Officers’ Union.
I would like to reiterate:
- Scholarship essay packets will be available on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
- The fully completed application packet including official high school transcript MUST be received by 3pm on Friday, February 24, 2023. NO EXPECTIONS!
- Scholarship successes will be notified on or about March 20, 2022.
- Scholarship breakfast scheduled for 9:00 am on Saturday, April 15, 2023.
