BAILEY, OFFICER GARY W. “BEETLE” (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Gary W. “Beetle” Bailey passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marianne Bailey. Officer Bailey joined the Houston Police Department on October 6, 1969, Academy Class No. 42. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Northeast and Kingwood Divisions until his retirement on May 10, 2008. Services were held July 14 with burial in Rosewood Memorial Park Cemetery.

BOLLIG, JANET M.

Mrs. Janet M. Bollig passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the age of 82. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant James C. Bollig who retired on June 7, 2013. Services were held July 7.

BRADSHAW, HERBERT

Mr. Herbert Bradshaw passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at the age of 77. He is the father of Administrative Specialist Frederick B. Bradshaw, assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police and father-in-law of Administrative Aide, Charlene C. Bradshaw, assigned to the Office of Legal Services. Services were held July 15 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

BRENAE, DARIAN

Miss Darian Brenae Lewis passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the age of 23. She is the sister of Police Officer Chase B. K. Taylor, assigned to the Southwest Division. Services were held July 23 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

BROWN, SGT. OLIVER E. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Oliver E. Brown passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Graciela Brown. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 16, 1957, Academy Class No. 17. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Jail, Central, Special Operations, Property, Burglary and Theft, and Major Offenders Divisions. Sergeant Brown retired on July 10, 1991.  Services were scheduled for Aug. 8 with burial set to be in Houston National Cemetery.

CAMPA, SGT. EARL E. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Earl E. Campa passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adria T. Campa. He joined the Houston Police Department on February 2, 1970, Academy Class No. 43. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Employment Services, Robbery, Internal Affairs, Burglary and Theft, Homicide, and Training Divisions. Sergeant Campa retired on June 11, 1990. On that same date, he rejoined the department as an Administration Manager, assigned to the Training Division, until September 18, 1993. Services were scheduled for August 13 in Conroe.

DEMENT, ROBERT A.

Mr. Robert A. Dement passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at the age of 85. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer D’Ann D. Kusak, who retired on January 18, 2014, out of the Northwest Division. Services were held July 31.

FORD, DIANA SUSAN

Mrs. Diana Susan Ford passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the age of 73. She is preceded in death by her son, Police Officer Hans M. Wagner, Jr., who passed away on September 16, 2012, and her cousin, Retired Senior Police Officer Karen E. Sampson, who passed away on April 23, 2021. She is also the cousin of Retired Senior Police Officer Michael L. Sampson, who retired on January 9, 2010, Sergeant Kaitlyn E. Sampson-Wise, assigned to the Southeast Division, and Retired Sergeant Dennis L. Slate, who retired on March 5, 2011. Services were held July 19 with burial in South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

HARMON, AMBER LEIGH

Ms. Amber Leigh Harmon passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the age of 35. She is the daughter of retired Senior Police Officer James (Don) Harmon who was last assigned to the Narcotics Division until his retirement on January 29, 2005 and retired Senior Police Officer Deanie Harmon Boy who was last assigned to the Community Services Division until her retirement on April 10, 2004. She is also the stepdaughter of retired Sergeant James R. Boy, who was last assigned to the Major Offenders Division until his retirement on October 18, 1997.

Services were held July 9 with burial in Woodlawn Garden of Memories.

HOUSTON, SGT. DAVID B. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant David B. Houston passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the age of 67. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carol Houston. Sergeant Houston joined the Houston Police Department on August 22, 1983, Academy Class No. 115. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the North Division, Traffic and Accident Division, Inspections Division, Jail Division and the Training Division until his retirement on January 30, 2016. Services were held July 9 in Spring.

KING, ANDREW

Mr. Andrew King passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the age of 63. He is the father of Lieutenant Kathryn “Katie” Reiser, assigned to the Internal Affairs Division; and father-in-law of Retired Senior Police Officer William E. Reiser, who retired on May 28, 2022, out of the Special Victims Division. Services were held July 9

MALONE, OFFICER CHARLES G. (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Charles G. Malone passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Malone. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 29, 1958, Academy Class No. 20. Police Officer Malone retired on August 18, 1981. Services were held July 15 in Brookside Memorial Park.

MANUEL, JOSEPHINE L.

Retired Custodian Josephine L. Manuel passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the age of 85. She joined the Houston Police Department on July 24, 1973. During her career with the department, she was assigned to the Crime Analysis Division and Facilities Operation and Maintenance Division. Custodian Manuel retired on September 1, 1998. Services were held July 29 with burial in Paradise Cemetery North.

PROTHRO, OFFICER HAROLD E. (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Harold E. Prothro Jr. passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife Connie Prothro. Officer Prothro joined the Houston Police Department on September 2, 1977, Academy Class No. 73. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central and Traffic/Accident Divisions until his retirement on January 6, 2001. Services were held July 21.

ROWE, LT. WALTER C. (RETIRED)

Retired Lieutenant Walter C. Rowe passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the age of 67. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 10, 1983, Academy Class BC0. Throughout his career with the department, he was assigned to the Identification Division. Lieutenant Rowe retired on May 6, 2017.

SERRES, SGT. SIDNEY L. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Sidney L. Serres passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha L. Serres. He was a United States Army Veteran. He joined the Houston Police Department on May 21, 1956, Academy Class No. 14. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Personnel, Jail, and South Central Divisions. Sergeant Serres retired on July 30, 1988. Services were held July 19 with burial in Austonio.

Mr. Rene Silva passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the age of 53. He is the husband of Public Information Officer Jodi K. Silva of the Office of Community Affairs Division. Services were held July 5 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

TORRES, PABLO

Mr. Pablo Torres passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the age of 70. He is the father of Sergeant Zulema Torres of the Employee Services Division. Services were held July 25in McAllen.

TREAT, SENIOR POLICE OFFICER RICHARD G. (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Richard G. Treat passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the age of 61. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 14, 1985, Academy Class No. 132. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Jail, Traffic, Command Center, and Vehicular Crimes Divisions until his retirement on April 8, 2006.

ULLOA, JESUS A.

Mr. Jesus A. Ulloa passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the age of 93. He is the grandfather of Sergeant Daniel Nunez of the Victim Services Division and grandfather-in-law of Sergeant Ruth A. Nunez of the Emergency Communications Division. Services were held July 18 with burial in Forest Park Lawndale.
