Calf Scramble to take place despite Livestock Show no-go

The annual Calf Scramble at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is a never-say-die proposition. Even though the overall show won’t go on the calf scramble will, albeit not in the usual arena.

This year’s scramble is set for two weekends in April at the Katy ISD Agriculture Center at 5825 Katy Hockley Cutoff in Katy.

The dates: April 9, 10 and 11 and April 16, 17 and 18. Only one scramble will be held each of the Fridays in the new schedule. Both morning and evening scrambles will be held on the Saturdays and Sundays.

As usual, scramblers will be coming from all over Texas to compete for $2,250. Each scramble will pit 30 competitors to scramble for 15 calves. Because of coronavirus distancing restrictions the crowd will be limited to scrambler families, donors and sponsors.

HPOU will sponsor two calves and Texas Police Trust one.
