Union members and their families are proving they know the term RSVP when a good time is involved.
A record number of RSVPs have been returned as the HPOU Family Picnic is about to unfurl on Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Oil Ranch in Hockley, off Highway 290.
“Based on the RSVPs,” HPOU’s Lisa Marino reported, “this is going to be a record attendance year. There have been more than 2,100 who’ve said they’re coming!”
And you can still RSVP if you haven’t already. Simply go to firstname.lastname@example.org and enter the total number of family members who will be present at the ranch, off Highway 290. Hours are 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Plenty of fun remains in store. Mystery surrounded the identities of the special guests or celebrities who will be the targets at the dunk booth.
And don’t forget the custom T-shirts. Marino has had to fend off Union members hoping to purchase their share prior to the actual event. She said she has held firm to the fact they won’t be available until the event officially opens.
“Get there early,” she warned. “They always sell out quick.”
Picnic Committee Chairman Danny Levine promises lots of fun and said the dunk booth will just be one part of the many activities held at the ranch throughout the day.
“Everything looks like we’re going to have a high turnout,” Levine said. “We are urging all members to make the necessary preparations to bring their families.”
No picnic was held last year due to the pandemic.
This year’s event, as usual, will have its special event T-shirts, which usually sell out early in the day.
And this year’s version is extra special since the pandemic prevented the Union from taking members and their children of all ages out to “the ranch” for all sorts of family fun and entertainment.
The dunk booth? Levine expressed hopes of having special guests who should end up “all wet.”
Members’ kids also can look forward to face painting and balloon animals and various other surprises and a wide array of outdoor activities supplied by the ranch hands, HPOU secretary and picnic coordinator Danny Levine said.
