Feb. 12 drive-thru barbecue to benefit Officer Waller

Get ready for the first barbecue drive-thru fundraiser of the New Year – this one benefiting wounded Officer Courtney Waller on Feb. 12 at the Union headquarters on State Street. Cost is $15 per plate.

Lt. Julie Manfre of Southwest Division, the organizer of the event, said the serving hours open at 11 a.m. and last “until there is no more barbecue.” The caterer is Demeris BBQ.

Meanwhile, Waller is recovering from an arm wound suffered during the same shooting incident that took the life of HPD Sgt. Harold Preston on Oct. 20. The lieutenant said Waller was getting his strength back in therapy and should be expected to make a full recovery.

Lt. Manfre urged everyone to purchase raffle tickets for a Mossberg shotgun and thanked Alan Helfman of River Oaks Chrysler Jeep for donating over 33 pieces of valuable sports memorabilia to the Waller Online Auction that concluded on Sunday, 12/20/20.  Just in time for holiday presents!
