HCPAAA teams with MADD for Nov. 19 meal for first responders

The Houston Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is at it again — showing appreciation for Houston police officers and first responders throughout the Greater Houston area.

The HCPAAA, together with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), will hold its annual Thanksgiving feast entitled “Together We Give Thanks” on Saturday, Nov. 19 in the gym at 51 Riesner.

Association President Jeanette Einkauf identified first responders as “anyone who would make a crash scene.” Besides police officers and other law enforcement officers such as sheriffs’ deputies and constables, that would include firefighters, EMS personnel, assistant district attorneys, tow truck drivers and dispatchers. “That’s who we consider first responders,” Einkauf said.

“We will be serving full Thanksgiving dinners all day until 11 p.m. or midnight “until the late shift gets there,” she explained.

The Houston Citizens Police Academy currently has 1,000 alumni members who completed the academy course. Einkauf said that about 300 are currently active in the alumni association.
