HPOU Private Family Viewing Night Recap

The HPOU held a private family viewing night on January 15, 2023, at Studio Movie Grill located in the SMG City Centre. There were two showings; a more family friendly movie in the afternoon “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and a more date night movie “Avatar” later that evening. Several HPOU board members were there to greet the families and friends of those who attended the event, and they were very excited to see the turn out and visit with everyone. This event was planned and coordinated by HPOU board member, Rhonda Williams. While in the process of planning this movie night, National University happed to reach out to Rhonda at the opportune time. Interested in showing their appreciation for Houston Police Officers, National University did not hesitate to sponsor the entire event. A special thanks to National University for supporting HPD officers and partnering with HPOU to create such a great fun experience for our officers!

Several emails were received by HPOU at the conclusion of the event expressing gratitude for being able to attend such a fun occasion! One member stated, “I thought it was very nice and was fun going with my blue family”. Thank you for the free popcorn and drinks”. Another member said, “My friends and I really enjoyed the movie, popcorn, and environment, let’s do it again!” “To attend the movie at Studio Movie Grill for free was one thing, but to have free face painting and giveaways for the kiddos topped it off”, HPOU member.

National University had several employees attend including, Blessing Oghobaase (Community Engagement & Public Safety Coordinator, Southcentral Region), Trevor Lewis (Community Engagement Specialist, Southcentral Region), Vi’Dual Futch (Business Development, Southcentral Region), Joe Patterson (VP, Partnership and Development), and Heidi Jaeger (Director of Partnerships, Southcentral Region).

HPOU also had several board members present at the event: Rhonda Williams, Ken Neely, Tim Whitaker, Terry Seagler, Dan Levine, and Debbie Lahie. Rhonda would like to thank those board members that attended, helped, and ensured the event was a success. A special thanks to Rhonda Williams and Lisa Marino for the planning and execution of this event, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Also, thank you to the members that released tickets because of last minute changes in plans that made it possible for other members to attend.

If you didn’t make this event, you missed a great time, and we hope to see you at the next family outing with HPOU!
