ANDERSON, KENTON DEAN

Mr. Kenton Dean Anderson passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the age of 53. He is the father of Police Officer Daniel G. McDonald, assigned to the Clear Lake Division. Services were held February 4.

BELL, SENIOR POLICE OFFICER NATHANIEL A. JR. (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Nathaniel A. Bell Jr. passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the age of 78. He is the brother of retired Sergeant Robert A. Bell who was last assigned to the Gang Division until his retirement on August 17, 2013. Officer Bell began his law enforcement career with the City of Houston Airport Police Department on January 26, 1976 until December 30, 1978. On January 16, 1979, Officer Bell joined the City of Houston Park Police Department. On September 1, 1985, the City of Houston Park Police Department merged with the Houston Police Department. During his career with the department, Officer Bell was assigned to the Special Operations Division until his retirement on January 1, 2004. Services were held February 21 with burial in Paradise Cemetery North.

BESSERRA, CYNTHIA A.

Mrs. Cynthia A. Beserra passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of 56. She is the mother of Police Officer Louis M. Beserra of the Property & Financial Crimes Division. She is also the sister-in-law of Retired Senior Police Officer Victor Beserra who retired on October 3, 2020. Services were held February 18 with burial in Calvary Hill Cemetery.

BOSTOCK, SGT. DOUGLAS R. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Douglas R. Bostock passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Mae Bostock. He joined the Houston Police Department on July 16, 1960, as a Clerk I, assigned to the Records Division. On November 6, 1961, he became part of Academy Class No. 25. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Special Operations Division, Jail Division, Southwest Division, Emergency Communications Division, Northwest Division, Fleet Unit, and the Homicide Division. Sergeant Bostock retired on July 21, 1984. Services were held February 18 with burial in Cypress.

BRUCE, LT. CHRISTOPHER L.

Lieutenant Christopher L. Bruce, assigned to the Training Division, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the age of 45. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Melissa Bruce. He is preceded in death by his father, retired Police Officer Paul F. Bruce Sr., who retired on March 27, 1993 and passed away in August 2005. He is also the cousin of retired Sergeant James R. Schultea who was last assigned to the North Division until his retirement on June 8, 2013. Lieutenant Bruce joined the Houston Police Department on August 13, 2007, Academy Class No. 194. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Northeast Division, North Division and the Crime Analysis and Command Center Division. Services were held February 17.

BURRELL, SGT. JOSEPH A. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Joseph A. Burrell passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 70. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Burrell. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 7, 1985, Academy Class No. 126. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Westside, South Central, Homicide, and Midwest Divisions. Sergeant Burrell retired on August 6, 2011.

CAMPA, SGT. EARL E. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Earl E. Campa passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Adria T. Campa. He joined the Houston Police Department on February 2, 1970, Academy Class No. 43. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Employment Services, Robbery, Internal Affairs, Burglary and Theft, Homicide, and Training Divisions. Sergeant Campa retired on June 11, 1990. On that same date, he rejoined the department as an Administration Manager, assigned to the Training Division, until September 18, 1993.

CANTU, OFFICER FRANCISCO (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Francisco Cantu passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his son, Senior Police Officer Frank M. Cantu, Jr., who was Killed in the Line of Duty on March 25, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alejandra Cantu. He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 24, 1972, Academy Class No. 53. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Narcotics, Traffic and Accident, Employment Services, Community Services, and North Divisions. Police Officer Cantu retired on July 16, 1993.

CHAVEZ, CONSUELO

Mrs. Consuelo Chavez passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the age of 85. She is the mother of Retired Sergeant Heraclio “Tony” Chavez, who retired from the Homicide Division in 2021. She is also the mother-in-law of Lieutenant Michelle S. Chavez of the Narcotics Division. Services were held February 9 with burial in Morales Cemetery.

CONTRERAS, OFFICER DROBERT D. (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Robert D. Contreras passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sally Contreras. He is also the brother of retired Sergeant Roland B. Contreras who was last assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division until his retirement on January 12, 1985 and retired Police Officer Richard J. Contreras who was last assigned to the Central Division until his retirement on March 15, 2001. Officer Contreras, who was also a Veteran of the United States Army, joined the Houston Police Department on October 5, 1964, Academy Class No. 31. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Southeast Division, Emergency Communications Division, Training Division and the Central Division until his retirement on January 23, 1985. Services were held February 22.

DANIELS, CAYDEN RYAN

Cayden Ryan Daniels passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at 13 months old. He is the grandson of Counselor Judy Daniels, assigned to the Victim Services Division.

EDWARDS, LOIS

Mrs. Lois Edwards passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the age of 94. She is the grandmother of Police Officer Rusty W. Edwards, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division – Solo Motorcycle Detail. Services were held February 21 with burial in Cement, Oklahoma.

FOSTER, DETECTIVE BOBBY JOE(RETIRED)

Retired Detective Bobbie Joe Foster passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose Carolyn Foster. He is a Veteran of the United States Army. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 14, 1959, Academy Class No. 22. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division and the Burglary and Theft Division. Detective Foster retired on June 21, 1982. Services were held March 1 with burial in Magnolia.

HASLEY, SHARON JOYCE

Mrs. Sharon Joyce Hasley passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the age of 71. She is the mother of Detective Jeffrey S. Hasley, assigned to the Major Assaults and Family Violence Division. Graveside services were held February 18 in Weatherford.

HILL, VIRGINIA GAYLE

Mrs. Virginia Gayle Hill passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the age of 67. She is the wife of retired Sergeant Rodney B. Hill who was last assigned to the Mental Health Division until his retirement on November 19, 2016. Services were held March 5.

HOGAN, LLOYD GLENN JR.

Retired Jail Attendant Lloyd Glenn Hogan, Jr. passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the age of 62. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 22, 1996. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Jail Division and the Joint Processing Center Unit. Jail Attendant Hogan retired on January 5, 2019. Services were held February 18 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

HOUSE, SGT. RONALD DEAN (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Ronald D. House passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the age of 62. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Robin House. He is also the brother of Retired Sergeant Roy D. House, who retired on August 22, 1996. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 28, 1980, Academy Class No. 90. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Jail, Juvenile, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Training Divisions. Sergeant Ronald House retired on February 22, 2003. Services were held January 31 in Liberty.

KAY, OFFICER WILLIAM E. (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer William E. Kay passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty L. Kay. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 29, 1958, Academy Class No. 20. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Jail, Emergency Communications, Central, Special Operations, and Homicide Divisions. Police Officer Kay retired on September 29, 1989.

McMENEMY, PATRICIA ANN

Mrs. Patricia Ann McMenemy passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her brother Retired Sergeant Frank O’Neal. She is the wife of Retired Sergeant Guy S. McMenemy, who retired on February 18, 1982; mother of Retired Criminal Intelligence Analyst Debra J. McMenemy, who retired on October 29, 2005; and aunt of Sergeant Michael S. O’Neal, assigned to the North Division. Services were held February 25 with burial in Woodlawn Garden of Memories.

NEWSOME, EARL ST. CLAIR

Mr. Earl St. Clair Newsome, Jr. passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the age of 95. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer Michael J. Newsome, who retired on December 17, 2016, out of the Employee Services Division. Graveside services were held February 25 in Houston National Cemetery.

RAMS, OFFICER TOMMY (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Tommy Rains passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the age of 78. He is the survived by his wife Rebecca Skidmore Rains. Officer Rains joined the Houston Police Department on May 25, 1964, Academy Class No. 30. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Southwest, Central, Traffic/Accident, Air Support, Internal Affairs, and Vice Divisions. He retired on October 12, 1987. Services were held February 11 with burial in Houston County.

RAINS, TOMMY (RETIRED)

Tommy Rains passed away February 8, 2022 at his home in Grapeland, Texas. The funeral service was held at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home in Palestine, Texas on Friday, February 11, 2022. He was buried at Center Hill Cemetery, Crockett, Texas.

In 1964; Tommy graduated from the Houston Police Department.  He worked in numerous departments beginning with radio patrol, then to accident patrol, hit and run, helicopter patrol, internal affairs, and then vice.  His favorites were vice and helicopters. After 23 years of service, he retired from the City of Houston.

TRAN, HUNG V.

Administrative Associate Hung V. Tran assigned to the Property & Financial Crimes Division passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the age of 39. Mr. Tran joined the Houston Police Department on April 9, 2012. During his tenure with the department, he was also assigned to the Burglary & Theft Division. Services were held February 18 with burial in Chalmette, Louisiana.

WILLIAMS, PASTOR JOHN WESLEY SR.

Pastor John Wesley Williams, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at the age of 79. He is the father of Word Processor Cora A. Williams, assigned to the Major Assaults and Family Violence Division. Services were held February 5.
