Retired Sergeant Johnny Patrick Blake passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Karen Blake. Sergeant Blake joined the Houston Police Department on June 1, 1971, Academy Class No. 50. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Northeast, Emergency Communications, Northwest, Juvenile, Burglary & Theft, Major Offenders, Internal Affairs and North Divisions. Sergeant Johnny Blake retired on January 15, 2005. Services were held February 19.

Mrs. Florence May Bratton passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the age of 95. She is mother of retired Senior Police Officer Terry Bratton, who retired on August 15, 2015; mother-in-law of retired Master Identification Officer Melanie Bratton, who retired on March 11, 2011, and grandmother of Police Officer Tyler Bratton, assigned to the North Belt Division. Services were held February 8 with burial in Brookside Memorial park.

Retired Lieutenant Harvey C. Briley passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty J. Briley. He is the father of retired Senior Police Officer Alan K. Briley, who was last assigned to the Airport Division – IAH until his retirement on October 3, 2020, and Senior Police Officer Michael G. Briley, assigned to the Westside Division. He is also the uncle of retired Senior Police Officer Dennis J. Spradlin, who retired on May 7, 2016, and retired Senior Police Officer Donald R. Spradlin, who retired on October 7, 2017. Lieutenant Briley joined the Houston Police Department on December 28, 1959, Academy Class No. 23. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the North Division, Jail Division, Southeast Division, Northeast Division, Central Division, Juvenile Division, Burglary and Theft Division, Major Offenders Division, Vice Division, Robbery Division and the Internal Affairs Division until his retirement on January 31, 1985. Services were held February 27 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

Retired Police Officer Oscar W. Dubose passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the age of 74. He is a Veteran of the United Sates Navy. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Dubose. Senior Police Officer Ginger L. Durrill, assigned to the Midwest Division, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021, at the age of 56. Officer Durrill, who was also a Veteran of the United States Navy, joined the Houston Police Department on November 9, 1992, Academy Class No. 151. Mrs. Elena Esquilin Enriquez passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the age of 83. She is the mother of retired Senior Police Officer Jose A. Enriquez who was last assigned to the Crime Analysis and Command Center until his retirement on July 2, 2016. Services were held February 18 with burial in Forest Park East Cemetery.

Mrs. Veronica L. Farr passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 65. She is the sister of Executive Office Assistant Christina Espinoza, assigned to the Criminal Investigations Command, and sister-in-law of Sergeant Roger Espinoza, assigned to the Mental Health Unit. Retired Senior Police Officer Jonas E. Foxworth passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 64. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia Foxworth. Senior Police Officer Jonas E. Retired Detective Harry M. Hall passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the age of 96. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia H. Hall. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 12, 1948, Academy Class No. 1. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, Burglary and Theft Division, Jail Division, Traffic Point Control Division, and Homicide Division. Detective Hall retired on January 14, 1969. Services were held February 24.

HAMEL

Retired Captain Jack R. Hamel passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at the age of 83. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 28, 1959, Academy Class No. 23. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Vice, Homicide, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Burglary and Theft, Records, and Eastside Divisions; also, Office of the Chief of Police, and Organizational Development Command. Captain Hamel retired in Command of the Air Support Division on April 1, 1995.

KESSLER

Mr. Jacob John Kessler, Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the age of 81. He is the father of Lieutenant Brian K. Kessler, assigned to the Vehicular Crimes Division.

KIRBY

Retired Senior Police Officer Wayne P. Kirby passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021, at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Gail Kirby. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 15, 1981, Academy Class No. 98. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Northeast Division, Tactical Support Command, Traffic and Accident Division, and the Traffic Enforcement Division. Senior Police Officer Kirby retired on June 12, 2004.
