Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Allen passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the age of 80. She is the mother of Sergeant Jennifer L. Allen, assigned to the Auto Theft Division. Services were held May 1 in Mexia with burial in Mexia Cemetery.

BAKER

Mrs. Dorothy B. Baker passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her husband, Retired Sergeant Thomas E. Baker, who passed away on  December 31, 2018. Services were held April 21 with burial in Grand View Cemetery in Pasadena.

BARON

Mr. Ronald W. Baron passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at the age of 90. He is the father-in-law of Retired Sergeant Jay F. Jansen, who retired on February 1, 2014. Services were held April 7 in Chicago.

BROOKS

Retired Senior Police Officer Bobby L. Brooks passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janie L. Brooks. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 10, 1975, Academy Class No. 72. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Southwest Division, Crime Lab, and Identification Division. Senior Police Officer Brooks retired on January 15, 2005. Graveside services were held May 1 in Tolar, Texas. 

CEGIELSKI

Mr. Albin S. Cegielski passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the age of 90. He is the father of Sergeant Christopher Cegielski, assigned to the Homicide Division and retired Senior Police Officer Albin C. Cegielski who was last assigned to the Northwest Division until his retirement on April 4, 2020. Services were held April 6 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer.

CHAPMAN

Retired Sergeant William David Chapman passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lynda M. Chapman. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 29, 1976, Academy Class No. 74. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to North, Jail, Narcotics, and Southwest Divisions. Sergeant Chapman retired on April 26, 2014. Services were held May 8 in Corsicana.

DOLLAR

Former Houston Police Officer Lloyd “Sonny” Dollar passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021, at the age of 76. He is the father of Police Officer Mark A. Dollar, assigned to the Training Division. Services were held April 26 with burial in City of Hempstead Cemetery.

DOUGLAS

Mr. Anthony E. Douglas passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the age of 39. He is the brother of Senior Police Officer Robert Douglas, assigned to the Auto Theft Division; and the brother-in-law of Senior Police Officer Angela M. Douglas, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs. Services were held April 7 with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery in El Paso.

FOEHNER

Retired Sergeant Nelson P. Foehner passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 86. His wife, Sue E. Foehner, survives him. He is the father of Retired Sergeant Melissa A. Ruland, who retired on February 26, 2016; and father-in-law of Retired Sergeant Norman Tommy Ruland, who retired on January 27, 2017. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 28, 1962, Academy Class No. 27. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Criminal Intelligence Division, Office of the Chief of Police, and the Narcotics Division. Sergeant Foehner retired on January 18, 1991. Services were held April 20 in Tomball.

GALLARDO

Mrs. Aurora C. Gallardo passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at the age of 94. She is the widow of Police Officer Samuel B. Gallardo, who passed away on April 11, 1975. Graveside services were held Feb. 10.

GALVAN

Mrs. Cynthia Estrella Galvan passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the age of 50. She is the sister of Sergeant Herman Estrella Jr., assigned to the Westside Division. Services were hjeld April 14.

GILBERT

Retired Lieutenant Garvice W. Gilbert, Jr. passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the age of  91. He is survived by his wife, Fannie M. Gilbert. He is also the father of Retired Police Officer Susan L. Williamson. He joined the Houston Police Department on August 8, 1955, Academy Class No. 12. During his tenure in the department, he was assigned to the Homicide Division, Central Division, Jail Division, Juvenile Division, Office of Technology Services, Property Division, and Robbery Division. Lieutenant  Gilbert retired on March 15, 1991.

GODINEZ

Retired Senior Police Officer David R. Godinez passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Karen Godinez. He joined the Houston Police Department on April 1, 1974, Academy Class No. 64. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Juvenile Division, Westside Division, Inspections Division, Personnel Division, Criminal Intelligence Division, Office of the Chief of Police, Technical Services Command, Community Services Division, and Jail Division. Senior Police Officer Godinez retired on May 6, 2006.Services were held April 17 in Rockwall.

GOLEMON

Retired Sergeant Jonathan J. Golemon passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the age of 53. He is survived by his wife, Emily J. Golemon. He started his law enforcement career with the University of Texas Police Department on May 14, 1993. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 16, 1995, Academy Class No. L6-95. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Northwest, Northeast, Emergency Communications, Westside, and Robbery Divisions. Sergeant Golemon retired on March 28, 2020. Services were held April 18.

GUZMAN

Ms. Maria Josefina Guzman passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at the age of 48. She is the sister of Lieutenant Alvaro Guzman Jr., assigned to the Eastside Division.

HILL

Retired Police Officer Jay H. Hill passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amy C. Hill. Officer Hill, who was also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, joined the Houston Police Department on August 16, 1975, Academy Class No. 71. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Southeast Division, Emergency Communications Division, Central Division, Narcotics Division, Traffic and Accident Division, Tactical Support Command and the Westside Division until his retirement on March 25, 1988.

HURD

Retired Sergeant Dale R. Hurd passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Hurd. He joined the Houston Police Department on January 19, 1976, Academy Class No. 73. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to Special Operations, Jail, Traffic and Accident, Traffic Enforcement, and Vehicular Crimes Divisions. Sergeant Hurd retired on May 31, 2008.

INOCENCIO

Mr. Elpidio M. Inocencio passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Word Processor Elizabeth G. Escot who was assigned to the Southwest Division until her passing on October 26, 1996. He is also the grandfather of Administrative Assistant Melissa A. Saldivar Hamilton, assigned to the Office of Panning and Data Governance. Services were held March 31 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

LEAKE

Retired Sergeant Pierce E. Leake passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at the age of 93. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Adele M. Leake. Sergeant Leake, who was a Veteran of the United States Navy, joined the Houston Police Department on September 25, 1950, Academy Class No.5. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division and the Auto Theft Division until his retirement on January 22, 1988. Services were held April 30 with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

MIZE

Mr. James Hotekome Mize passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the age of 66. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Michelle Mize, assigned to the Robbery Division.

NICHOLS

Retired Police Officer Albert J. Nichols Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary J. Nichols. He is preceded in death by his brother, retired Police Officer Jerry R. Nichols, who passed away on June 21, 2007. Officer Nichols joined the Houston Police Department on October 21, 1963, Academy Class No.29. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Northwest Division, Employment Services Division, North Division and the Training Division until his retirement on January 20, 2001. Services were held April 24 with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

PARKER

Jacob Thomas Parker passed away on April 20, 2021. He is the son of Senior Police Officer Matthew B. Parker, assigned to the Narcotics Division. He is also the grandson of retired Sergeant John T. Parker who was last assigned to the Homicide Division until his retirement on June 30, 2018 and retired Senior Police Officer Frances E. Parker who was last assigned to the Juvenile Division until her retirement on May 22, 2004. Private services were held April 27.

PAVALOCK

Retired Sergeant James A. Pavalock passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the age of 77. Sergeant Pavalock joined the Houston Police Department on October 5, 1964, Academy Class No. 31. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Fleet Unit, Southwest Division and the Special Operations Division until his retirement on August 27, 2004. Services were held April 8.

ROSS

Ms. Robin “Lynn” Ross passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at the age of 57. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Danielle R. Brown, assigned to the Downtown Division. Services were held April 8 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

RUDISON

Ahriah Q. Rudison passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at the age of 13 months. She is the daughter of Police Officer Andrew L. Rudison, assigned to the Narcotics Division and granddaughter of Senior Police Officer Terri S. Charles, assigned to the Northeast Division. Services were held May 1 with burial in Brookside Memorial Park.

SALINAS

Retired Senior Police Officer Edwin B. Salinas passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Matilda S. Salinas. Officer Salinas, who was a Veteran of the United States Navy, joined the Houston Police Department on January 8, 1968, Academy Class No. 37. During his career with the department, he was assigned to Northwest Division and the North Division until his retirement on December 18, 2004. Services were held May 4 with burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. 

SAMPSON

Retired Senior Police Officer Karen E. Sampson passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021, at the age of 67. She is survived by her husband, Retired Senior Police Officer Michael L. Sampson, who retired on January 9, 2010; by her daughter, Police Officer Kaitlyn E. Sampson-Wise, assigned to the Vice Division; her son-in-law, Sergeant Bradly S. Wise, assigned to the Southeast Division; and her brother-in-law, Retired Sergeant Dennis L. Slate, who retired on March 5, 2011. She is preceded in death by her nephew, Police Officer Hans M. Wagner, Jr., who passed away on September 16, 2012. She joined the Houston Police Department on March 22, 1982, Academy Class No. 104. During her tenure with the department, she was assigned to the Southwest, Jail, Community Services, Traffic and Accident, and Traffic Enforcement Divisions. Senior Police Officer Karen Sampson retired on November 6, 2004. Services were held April 29 with burial in South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

THERAGOOD

Mrs. Helen Woodard Theragood passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at the age of 84. She is the mother of Mobility Service Officer Byron E. Theragood, assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division and the grandmother of Police Officer Sheldon D. Theragood, assigned to the Mental Health Division.
