Officers Barajas & Syed called to a citizen holding a suspect

On February 7, 2023, Officers Barajas and Syed were called to a Citizen holding Suspect at a Randall’s. As officers escorted the suspect out of the store, they learned that the suspect committed aggravated robbery while there and he was also the suspect in a shoplifting nearby. Officers Barajas and Syed attempted to detain the suspect and place him in handcuffs, but he began to resist, using his car keys as a weapon. The suspect jabbed the forearm and hand of Officer Barajas however officers were able to subdue the suspect and place him in handcuffs.

Officers ran the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle and found that it came back as stolen in an aggravated robbery three days prior. Officers found that the suspect was listed as a wanted person who had two open felonies. Officers also got additional charges accepted of Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault on a peace officer. For this, the union awards them patrol officers of the month.
