Dr. Rosalyn M. Berry passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the age of 69. She is the mother of Senior Victims Advocate Kamari T. Geffrard, assigned to the Victim Services Division.

A visitation was held at Community Bible Baptist Church on Friday, August 14, 2026.

A Celebration of Life was held at Glendale Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Bluitt, Diane W. (RETIRED)

Retired Word Processor Diane W. Bluitt passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 74. She joined the Houston Police Department on July 25, 1989, as a Clerk Typist II. She also served as a Police Data Clerk II. During her tenure with the department, she was assigned to the Burglary and Theft Division and South Central Division. Word Processor Bluitt retired on February 26, 2022.

Chimney, Eric L. (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Eric L. Chimney passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Renee M. Chimney. He started his law enforcement career with the Houston Community College Police Department on November 15, 1982. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 26, 1984, Academy Class #125. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Traffic and Accident Division, Westside Division, Midwest Division, Field and Support Operations Command, Special Support Services Command, Support Operations Command, Special Operations Command, and Downtown Division. Senior Police Officer Chimney retired on December 16, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at The Willams House of Second Baptist Church – West Campus, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Dunlap, Delon O.

Mr. Delon O. Dunlap passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the age of 62. He is the husband of Senior Police Service Officer Evonia L. Dunlap, assigned to the Homicide Division. He is also the brother-in-law of retired Sergeant Loretta D. Petitt who retired on January 16, 2016, from the South Gessner Division.

A visitation was held before a memorial service at Ross Mortuary Inc. on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Flowers, Clendon D. (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Clendon D. Flowers passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rena F. Flowers. He joined the Houston Police Department as a Clerk Typist I on February 18, 1963, assigned to the Identifications Division. On October 5, 1964, he started Academy Class #31 as a Cadet. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Southeast, Jail, Traffic and Accident, Central, Emergency Communications, and North Divisions. Police Officer Flowers retired on January 26, 1985, from the Identification Division.

A Celebration of Life was held at a private residence on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

George, Snater W., Jr.

Mr. Snater W. George, Jr. passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 73. He is the father of Offset Press Operator Chaemarique V. George, assigned to the Office of Planning and Data Governance.

A viewing was held before the Funeral Service at Paradise Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2026.  Burial followed at Paradise Cemetery North.

Guillory, Garnette M.

Mrs. Garnette M. Guillory passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the age of 85. She is the mother of Retired Executive Office Assistant Rosalind T. Bulman, who retired on August 20, 2005, and Retired Senior Police Service Officer Michelle Y. Harris, who retired on March 14, 2026; mother-in-law of Retired Sergeant Karl L. Harris, who retired on March 14, 2026; sister of Retired Police Officer Rachel Julian, who retired on April 13, 1995, and Retired Sergeant Marceline A. Guillory, who retired on August 21, 2010.

A Rosary was recited before the Memorial Mass at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church on Saturday, September 19, 2026.  The Memorial Mass followed.

Sergeant Head, Charles L. (RETIRED)

Retired Sergeant Charles L. Head passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Dolores Head. Sergeant Head joined the Houston Police Department on November 12, 1963, Academy Class #29. He was assigned to the Central Division and the Burglary and Theft Division until his retirement on March 12, 1994.

A visitation was held at Pace Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

A Celebration of Life was held at Pace Funeral Home on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Interment followed at Brookside Memorial Park.

Holloway, Heather E.

Mrs. Heather E. Holloway passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the age of 44. She is the wife of Retired Senior Police Officer Clay M. Holloway, who retired on April 25, 2023; daughter-in-law of Retired Captain Mark S. Holloway, who retired on June 17, 2017; and sister-in-law of Captain Clifton M. Holloway, commander of the Airport IAH Division.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Sandpiper Room of Lakeland Activity on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Hunter, Cathleen

Mrs. Cathleen Hunter passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the age of 77. She is the grandmother of Senior Police Telecommunicator Jeremy D. Smith, assigned to the Emergency Communications Division.

A visitation was held before the Funeral Service at Lockwood Funeral Home on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Burial followed at Golden Gate Cemetery.

Koontz, Henry “Tommy” (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Henry “Tommy” Koontz passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathy Koontz. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 31, 1975, Academy Class #69. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Southeast, Jail, Eastside, and Clear Lake Divisions. Senior Police Officer Koontz retired on June 4, 2005.

A Graveside Service was held at South Park Cemetery on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Laha, Irma T.

Mrs. Irma T. Laha passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the age of 73. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sergeant Billie W. Laha, who passed away on December 23, 2001.

Lozano, Paulino Miranda

Mr. Paulino Miranda Lozano passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the age of 80. He is the father of Sergeant Paulino M. Lozano Jr., assigned to the Clear Lake Division.

Martin, Frances L.

Retired Administrative Supervisor Frances L. Martin passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 78. Ms. Rogers joined the Houston Police Department on June 24, 1985. Throughout her career, she was assigned to the Property Division until her retirement on September 29, 2007.

Retired Senior Police Officer Griff R. Maxwell passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jeanne Maxwell. Officer Maxwell joined the Houston Police Department on January 9, 1984, Academy Class #118. He was assigned to the Southwest Division, Jail Division, and the Narcotics Division until his retirement on January 11, 2020.

Mrs. Gloria Cortez Peña passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 93. She is the mother of Sergeant Ronald R. Peña, assigned to the Command Center Division.

Petty, William H.

Retired Administrative Coordinator William H. Petty passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 66. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 4, 2019. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Command and Victims Services Division. Administrative Coordinator Petty retired on March 28, 2026.

Mr. David M. Rodriguez passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 65. He is the father of Sergeant David M. Rodriguez II, assigned to the Vehicular Crimes Division.

Rogers, Cheryl A. Sooy

Retired Data Entry Operator Cheryl A. Sooy Rogers passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Thomas R. Rogers. Mrs. Rogers joined the Houston Police Department on June 17, 1991. Throughout her career she was assigned to the Records Division, Traffic and Accident Division, Traffic Enforcement Division, and the Vehicular Crimes Division until her retirement on June 1, 2023.

A private memorial service was held.

Sable, Perry D. (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Perry D. Sable passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the age of 64. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dita Sable. He started his law enforcement Career with the University of Houston Police Department on July 8, 1992. He joined the Houston Police Department on December 30, 1994, Academy Class #LE5-94. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Southwest, and Airport Hobby Division. Senior Police Officer Sable retired on March 19, 2022.

A Graveside Service was held at Bosque Bello Cemetery on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Sanders, Jerry W. (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Jerry W. Sanders passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cecilia D. Sanders. Officer Sanders, who was also a Veteran of the United States Army, joined the Houston Police Department on June 27, 1983, Academy Class #114. He was assigned to the Southwest Division, Jail Division, Westside Division, and the Southeast Division until his retirement on January 25, 2014.

A visitation was held at Autry Funeral Home – Jacksonville on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Scales, Curtis L. (RETIRED)

Retired Senior Police Officer Curtis L. Scales passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Melanie Scales. He started his law enforcement career with the Williamson County Sherrif’s Office on October 1, 1988. He joined the Houston Police Department on July 19, 1993, Academy Class #L3-93. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the North, Narcotics, and Homicide Divisions. Senior Police Officer Scales retired on February 28, 2015.

Mr. David Segura, Jr. passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at the age of 78. He is the father of Administrative Supervisor Monice N. Berry, assigned to the Office of Legal Services.

Shephard, Peter S. (RETIRED)

Retired Police Officer Peter S. Shephard passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Deborah Shephard. He joined the Houston Police Department on June 15, 1981, Academy Class #98. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the North, Emergency Communications, Central, and Northeast Divisions. Police Officer Shephard retired on September 24, 1999.

A Memorial Service was held at Brookside Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Burial followed at Brookside Memorial Park.
