Ms. Alice Faye Givens Allen passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the age of 73. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Kenneth Miles, assigned to the Northeast Division. She is also the family member of Lieutenant Tiffany Jefferson, assigned to the Criminal Investigation Command; Sergeant Isaac Jefferson, assigned to the North Division and Senior Police Officer Bradford Roland, assigned to the Gang Division. Services were held August 16 with burial in Pineville, Louisiana.

BROWN

Mr. Mack Donald Brown passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020, at the age of 81. He is the husband of retired Division Manager Pauline Brown who was last assigned to the Records Division until her retirement on February 28, 2001. Services were held July 31 with burial in Houston Memorial Gardens.

CAMERON

Senior Police Service Officer David A. Cameron Sr. assigned to the Clear Lake Division passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at the age of 63. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Theodora M. Cameron. Mr. Cameron joined the Houston Police Department on September 12, 2009. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Airport Division – IAH, Jail Division and Traffic Enforcement Division.

CLARK

Mr. Bobby Newton Clark passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at the age of 88. He is the father of Sergeant Matthew R. Clark, assigned to the Northwest Division and retired Senior Police Officer Mark R. Clark who was last assigned to the Downtown Division until his retirement on March 25, 2017. He is also the grandfather of Police Officer Katie L. Clark, assigned to the Homicide Division. Services were held August 15 with burial in Forest Park Westheimer.

CLEGGETT

Division Manager Byron M. Cleggett assigned to the Office of Budget and Finance passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Valerie A. Cleggett. Mr. Cleggett joined the Houston Police Department on October 16, 2004. During his career with the department, he was also assigned to the Neighborhood Protection Corps. Services were held August 15 in Sugar Land.

CLENDENON

Mrs. Pamela S. Clendenon passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at the age of 73. She is the mother of Senior Police Officer Christopher S. Bartlett, assigned to the Narcotics Division.

Services were held August 29 with burial in Conroe.

DESORMEAUX

Mr. James W. Desormeaux passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the age of 80. He is the father of Senior Office Assistant Rhonda K. Hickman, assigned to the Eastside Division. Services were held August 10 with burial in Lake Charles.

FLORES

Mr. Salvador C. Flores passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at the age of 81. He is the father of Retired Senior Police Officer George A. Flores, who retired on March 24, 2005; grandfather of Senior Police Officer Xavier A. Flores, assigned to the Westside Division; father-in-law of Police Officer Ramon Escamilla, assigned to the Northwest Division; and grandfather-in-law of Police Officer Monica Berrios, assigned to the Gang Division. Services were held August 11.

HERREJON

Mr. Gustavo Herrejon passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020, at the age of 65. He is the father of Senior Police Officer Demian Herrejon, assigned to the Gang Division.

JONES

Retired Building Attendant Charles Jones, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the age of 77. He joined the Houston Police Department on October 30, 1971. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to Crime Analysis Division and Facilities Operations/Maintenance. Building Attendant Jones retired on August 15, 1998.

LAVERGNE

Retired Operations Supervisor Cynthia J. Lavergne passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at the age of 68. She joined the Houston Police Department on April 30, 1973. Throughout her career with the department, she was assigned to the Office of Technology Services. Operations Supervisor Lavergne retired on May 1, 2004. Services were held August 15.

LEWIS

Data Entry Operator Latonya J. Lewis, assigned to the Fleet Unit, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020, at the age of 46. She joined the Houston Police Department on October 23, 1995. During her tenure with the department she was also assigned to the Jail Division and Records Division. Data Entry Operator Lewis is the daughter of Retired Office Service Manager Deborah K. McCoy, who retired on May 30, 2015. Services were held August 8.

McGRIFF

Mr. Charles E. McGriff passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at the age of 87. He is the father of Word Processor Tammie E. McGriff, assigned to the Criminal Investigation Command / Victim Services Unit. Services were held August 27 with burial in Paradise Cemetery North.

MORALES

Mrs. Elizabeth Reyna Morales passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the age of 52. She is the wife of Senior Police Officer Alan H. Morales, assigned to the Kingwood Division. Services were held August 10 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

PIERCE-HAWKINS

Mrs. Marcia Pierce-Hawkins passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at the age of 87. She is the mother of Deputy Director Regina Woolfolk, assigned to the Office of Public Affairs. Services were held August 28.

ROBERTSON

Ms. Natarvia Robertson passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at the age of 43. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Gerald J. Robertson, assigned to the Robbery Division. Services were held July 31 with burial in Paradise Cemetery North.

SCHIELACK

Retired Police Officer Jimmie J. Schielack passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020, at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his wife Margie Schielack. He is survived by his granddaughter Police Officer Cassandra M. Lott, assigned to the Internal Affairs Division, and grandson-in-law Police Officer Travis D. Lott, assigned to the Narcotics Division. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He joined the Houston Police Department on November 12, 1963, Academy Class No. 29. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Special Operations, Jail, Emergency Communications, Central, Air Support, Vice, Employment Services, Southeast, and Eastside Divisions. Police Officer Schielack retired on February 2, 1988. Services were held August 15 with burial in Winchester, Texas.

SCOTT

Retired Senior Police Officer David G. Scott passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sibyl E. Scott. Officer Scott joined the Houston Police Department on May 29, 1984, Academy Class No. 121. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Special Operations Division and the Southeast Division until his retirement on July 28, 2007. Services were held in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery on August 10.

SMITH

Retired Senior Police Officer Donald G. Smith passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at the age of 59. He is survived by his wife, Idalie Smith. Officer Smith who also a Veteran of the United States Army began his law enforcement career on May 9, 1984 with the City of Houston Airport Police Department. On November 20, 1992, the Airport Police Department merged with the Houston Police Department where Officer Smith was assigned to the Airport Division – Hobby and the Clear Lake Division until his retirement on February 21, 2009. Services were held August 17.

VEAL

Ms. Ruby Veal passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020, at the age of 81. She is the grandmother of Police Officer Reginald Veal, assigned to the Vehicular Crimes Division. Services were held August 3 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

VEROT

Retired Prison Lieutenant Jerome Verot passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the age of 86. His brother, Retired Police Officer Rene Verot, Jr., who passed away on February 15, 2008, precedes him in death. He is survived by his wife Diane Verot; and nephews, Retired Senior Police Officer Leon T. Verot, who retired on January 23, 2009, and Senior Police Officer Rene Verot, III, assigned to the Property Division. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He joined the Houston Police Department on March 8, 1965. Throughout his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Municipal Prison Farm. Prison Lieutenant Verot retired on March 31, 1989. Services were held August 5 with burial in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
