Virus pandemic continues to postpone officer benefits

The best-laid plans to benefit HPD officers in times of need have – one might say – gone viral, as in postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The following have been rescheduled:

Sita K9 Memorial

The memorial ceremony in honor of the beloved Sita, the K9 officer who died earlier this summer was originally set for August but will now take place Nov. 20 at HPOU.  In the meantime, donations can be made at in her honor.

Officer Cormier & Knox Family Benefit

Originally set to be a drive-thru barbecue to benefit the families of Fox Officers Jason Knox, who died in the May 2 helicopter crash, and Chase Cormier, who is still recovering from injuries, the Aug. 28 date is reset for Sept. 11 due to the threat of Hurricane Laura.  Donations can be made online at and BBQ tickets are still available!

Officer Jerry Flores Fight For Life 2020 Golf Classic

Originally set for an April, this event benefiting Officer Jerry Flores, who suffered serious brain injuries in a golfing accident, this event will take place Nov. 12 at the Houston National Golf Club.  For information contact Senior Police Officer Rick Barajas at 713-933-5953 or use the printable sponsor and team form to register today.
